Will you stand next to me when I’m broken?
Or will you go somewhere else – to let me be alone
To let me be private
To let me grieve, to be shaken, to be less than perfect
So your vision of me isn’t marred
So you can remember the good times
Me healthy
Me laughing.
Or can you stand next to me when I’m broken
And remember me laughing
And see me in tears, voice shaking
Body broken
Scared
And still hold me
And still love me.
Do you wait till I’m better, to call
To reach out
I am so much easier to love, when in a good mood
Its easier to be around me, without the pain
So you wait, for better days
And that is ok to choose,
and its ok for me to choose
To spend my time with people who can still see
The beauty of my soul
Even when I’m broken.
That remember me laughing
Even when I’m crying… they don’t try to fix me
They just know, by showing love to me
when times are hard,
that I will see a reflection
in their eyes
of me laughing,
and I know they are the lighthouse for finding my way home.
