Proverbial Mountain

If its easy to get knocked out of your bliss state by hanging out with the less than enlightened folks, perhaps it is not strong enough to begin with. There is a time when we may need to protect and nurture ourselves, and the cave is good. I’m all for the cave, and surrounding ourselves with supportive energies and people who resonate with us. But if we have to remain in the cave in order to be in our truth, we are doing the world, and ourselves, no favors.

I have received counsel countless times, about the highest path being one of choosing to be only with those that see us, resonate with us and meet our level of consciousness.

Yes, I agree, but only to a point, the point where we’ve strengthened our energy field, and healed, and beyond that, to ONLY be around like-minded people is a bit self-indulgent.

While its true I can only be responsible for myself, and I can choose to surround myself with a community of like-minded beings, that is good…. But to isolate, to turn away from everyone else, those less fortunate, those less conscious, hurting, wounded, stuck, blocked… to sit on the mountaintop in blissful meditation, surrounded by friends… this can be good to strengthen one’s connection with the divine, but at some point it becomes selfish if its all we do, selfish not to teach others by Being – selfish not to be immersed in humanity, providing the possibility of an alternative way of Being, in even the smallest of ways, by example.

Even those less aware deserve our compassion, kindness, and love. If each person took care of themselves yes this would change the world, but so many do not yet know this is an option.

I’m not encouraging anyone but the most enlightened saints to be immersed 24/7 but do take note – how long can you hold that more awakened state of Being, when surrounded by others? Can you take the opportunity to work on holding it longer, til the world around you no longer impacts how you are in the world?

So get off the mountain, come out of the cave, share your wisdom In the smallest ways, just bite-sized chunks will do, this world needs so much healing. Turning our backs to it will not make the healing happen faster. Time is key, get your muck boots on and let’s jump in! Consciousness can be raised in a second for any sentient being – lets help make that happen.

  1. An encouraging and vital post Mardi! This is always a good reminder for me, as I can tend to want to withdraw from the world myself. I also find that awareness can be, seemingly, a relative experience: I don’t know exactly how to gauge whether another is “conscious” or “aware”, because I do have quite a time and more than enough to be responsible for with my own attentive efforts and disciplines towards being aware 😉 Perhaps all I can do is raise the question for myself and others and see where that might take us… and perhaps this is where compassion comes in, as a tempering for my approach towards myself, and others, that seeks to understand and support and find deep caring and daring in and for life.

Much Appreciated, All the Best, TW

    1. Thank you Travis for your response and own reflections!! We are all in this together!! I totally understand the draw to go off and be alone, or with select others, that is why I wrote this post 🙂
